One of my friends had posted a link and photo for the LifeStraw invention on Facebook last week. It caught my eye. While I couldn’t find that particular article, I looked it up. The LifeStraw is meant to help people who don’t have access to sustainable water treat the water they have access to as your sucking it out of the straw. There are single person use LifeStraws and now family use LifeStraws. The LifeStraws are expected to filter out 99.9% of viruses, bacteria and parasites. Here’s a How Stuff Works article on the LifeStraw. The United Nations hopes to reduce the number of people without access to sustainable water to 1/2 by 2015. Hopefully, the distribution of the LifeStraw will help tremendously with that.
